My Background I pride myself in assisting people to achieve their potential by giving them skills and techniques to use in any performance domain. I aim to help others to improve their general well-being by combining with sport and general psychology experience. Within my practice, I combine current research with applied principles to help others reach their goals. A challenge which people often present with is anxiety and I am able to help manage their nerves and teach ways to build confidence.
I am currently undertaking my PhD examining the relationship between perfectionism, overthinking and psychological distress, alongside working as a visiting lecturer at York St John University.
Competing in football has taken me to various countries. I have lived in England, Iceland, Australia, and the United States where I competed at the highest level in each as well as providing coaching to soccer players at different levels. I received a 4 year scholarship at at Division 1 University in Virginia. I am able to apply my experience of competing at a high level and dealing with the stressful aspects of competitive sport. I also coached football while in the United States, and was the Technical Director of a club. I also was the Program Lead for the Bumblebee Program - overseeing 12 coaches and 8 helpers to provide soccer sessions for over 120 3-5 year old children.
I have also worked within schools to help "build confidence and character", particularly with groups of students deemed "at risk". I have experience working as a Mental Health Counselor and have worked with various populations e.g. youth at risk, sexually abusive adolescents, domestic violence victims and offenders, divorcees, children with emotional and behavioral disorders, and athletes.
An important part of my work is providing psychology to groups to help them achieve top performance and I do this by applying a needs based approach. My delivery is flexible and fun to help create positive group dynamics.
I have a passion for assisting coaches with the psychological components of sport, and run Coach Education Workshops on motivation, confidence, communication and leadership skills. I have extended these workshops to managers and salespeople to help them with lead their teams to success.
