In my mission to see the world, I am now currently on the journey to reach 50% of Europe visited. First country of the three country, 5 day saga is Lithuania. Landing in Kaunas and taking the bus to the Monk's Bunk Hostel on the main pedestrian street of the town. After speaking with a woman on the plane who is from Lithuania who said the Blue Orange was a good place to hang out, we asked the owner of the hostel where it was. Smiling, he told us that we get a discount there for staying at hostel. So that was a sign :). We then headed for traditional food of a bread dish which was full of random foods e.g. Pig ears, cheese topped prunes, bread sticks, and also a dumplings platter! It was a crazy moment when I could finally say "I'm full" haha! That doesn't usually happen! We then proceeded to take a quick wander around all the sights of the town! Although it was rainy, it was very beautiful. People in Lithuania love flowers. People carrying flowers everywhere; people selling flowers everywhere. Following a stop in a chocolate cafe where we got a cup of melted chocolate, we went on to hide from the rain in the BO. The quirky bar full of alternative people in colourful clothing. The Basketball Euros was on (Lithuania v Italy) and it seems the country goes wild for a bit of balling so we enjoyed the buzzing atmosphere with the game watchers. It was still raining so our way home consisted of a run in the puddles :) felt good to get a gallup in even if it was in Squelching Toms. Back at the hostel we were inspired by other travellers...real travellers. Those who were out on the road for over a year marking off many countries, gathering memories, and calculating opinions on different places. I was extremely envious of their nomadic living and felt grateful of being from Europe to were we can get on cheap flights and explore the world. We also hung out with people who are fire dancers who were also super inspiring. What a random hobby :) d
